Code of conduct

At OpenSourceUoM, we are committed to providing a welcoming and enjoyable FOSSCOMM 2024 experience for everyone. Our community respects and values all individuals, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ability, body shape, size, or preferred linux distribution. Harassment, abuse, or discrimination in any form will not be tolerated.

We understand that cultural differences may sometimes lead to misunderstandings, and we strive to address and resolve these situations as they occur. We expect participants to be courteous, proactive, and to contribute to a positive conference experience for all.

Participants who violate these principles may face consequences, including being denied entry or being expelled from the conference, at the discretion of the organizers. This is particularly important for speakers and other prominent figures to keep in mind.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to, offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, display of sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, unauthorized or inappropriate photography or recording, continuous disruption of talks or events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior must comply immediately.

Should a participant engage in harassing behavior, conference organizers may take appropriate action, which could include issuing a warning or expelling the offender from the event. If you experience or witness harassment, or have other concerns, please contact a conference team member immediately. Conference team members can be identified by their orange lanyards. The conference team is ready to assist participants by contacting venue security or local law enforcement, providing escorts, or offering any support needed to ensure a safe experience throughout the conference. We value your presence.
