Call for FOSSCOMM 2025

The organizing team of the Panhellenic FOSSCOMM (Free and Open Source Software Communities Meeting) 2024 conference thanks all participants for their presence and invites student groups, in collaboration with members of the academic community, to submit proposals for hosting the next conference.

The proposals should be divided into the following three subsections:

Organizing Committee

  • The names of students and academic staff (faculty members) who will be part of the organizing committee.
  • The names of representatives from Local Government bodies, Chambers of Commerce, business associations, open-source communities, as well as professionals actively participating in open-source projects.

Location of the Event

  • City where the event will take place.
  • Potential venues for hosting the conference (e.g., university of the city, cultural center, hotel, etc.).
  • Venue capacity (size and number of rooms, spaces for booths – posters).
  • Proposed date for the event.
  • The tentative structure of the two-day program, with the proposed topics per session and the inclusion of a session in English aimed at open-source communities from the broader region (Balkans, Turkey, Middle East, and Mediterranean countries).

Additional Information

  • Access to the city hosting the event (e.g., by ferry, airplane, frequency of routes).
  • Access to the event venue.
  • Accessibility of the venue for people with disabilities.Internet accessibility.
  • Access to dining facilities.
  • Ways to utilize online applications in organizing the conference.

For the organizing committee, the following are provided:

  • A Debian VM with a web server and database (nginx/php/mariadb) along with WordPress to design and set up your website.
  • Proposal Management for talks and workshops: For presentations and the program, the tool pretalx.org (pretalx.fossccomm.gr) will be used.
